After the 2014 field survey of the shipwreck site in the bay of Suđurađ on the island of Šipan, the international research team restarted the excavation in June 2015.The excavation area covered 36m2. The ship S. Girolamo, owned by Jerolim Primojević from the Republic of Dubrovnik, sunk in 1576. It was initially researched in the mid 1970s, but the well preserved remains of the ship’s hull still lie below the thin layer of sandy sediment.
